A hot topic at the recent Knox Waitara “Meet the Candidates” night was Maori Wards.
In response to todays article appearing on “The Post”, Ian Cummings has provided the following comment:

“I’ve shared my view that the Māori ward should be removed, because I believe
in a system where everyone is treated equally and elected under the same
rules — regardless of ethnicity.
This isn’t about taking away anyone’s voice. I believe in fair
representation for everyone. We are one community, and I believe the best
way forward is through unity and equal opportunity. These conversations
aren’t always easy, but they’re important. My hope is that we can all work
together to shape a future that reflects and respects all voices in our
community.”
