Who I Am And What I Stand For

My Platform

I am pleased to be campaigning as a candidate in the 2025 NPDC North Ward election to provide voters with a credible alternative and more effective voice for real change on issues that matter to them.

I am standing to ensure genuine advocacy in Council for NPDC North Ward, answerable to the community on key local matters.

Voters should keep in mind that every $1.35m of OPEX (operational expenditure) will shift rates by one per cent and every $15m of CAPEX (capital expenditure) would also shift rates by one per cent. Source: ECM 9125315

Our local community – residents, businesses and voluntary sector – deserve better. I prefer approaches that boost local development and protect property rights without unnecessary burdens.

I am a family man; I have served 13 years on a yr 0-13 independent school board, including 10 years as chair, and recently retired after 16 years as General Manager of a company managing significant oil terminals, fueling Auckland and Northland. These roles have given me a valuable governance, leadership, and collaborative skillset.

I believe the private and voluntary sector, not council bureaucracy, is where the capacity for innovation, creative thought and prosperity comes from.

I want to reduce the size and overreach of council operations and stick to core business.

I am a strong advocate for free enterprise. I believe we need to stand up for economic and personal freedoms and I will represent the people of NPDC North Ward in ensuring these are protected.

Real Representation

I will consider issues pragmatically, consult with you in considering my vote and always act on clearly declared conviction. I will ensure you and the people of NPDC North Ward have genuine advocacy in Council on rates, water, and infrastructure.

Real Community Prosperity

The private and voluntary sector, not council, is where the endless capacity for innovation, creative thought and prosperity comes from. I am a strong advocate for free enterprise and will focus on reducing costs that hit local businesses hard.

Real Local Governance

The first duty of local government is to deliver efficient services, not create financial errors that overcharge residents. We need council leaders with the courage to uphold community values and do no harm through better oversight.

Real Freedom

I believe the council should work for us not against us, yet decisions like high rates rises have caused widespread frustration. I am of the view that with less regulation and more voluntary co-operation, we can solve local problems from the bottom up far better than from the top down.
